It’s called Icon for a reason. It’s simply ICONIC! Royal Caribbean Cruises has done it again and continues to raise the bar of what is possible on the sea. You’ll find on board a waterpark that looks like a theme park at sea and some really family friendly areas and options. Including cabins that accommodate up to 6 people.

Some notable differences are extra large interior cabins, oh how these will just make interiors feel more humane. We have an interior booked for our sailing on her because prices for anything else was just ludicrous.

Another great idea is a separate shower and toilet in some cabins so there is not an endless queue for the bathroom. I had a great suite I shared on Royal Caribbean with some friends and we had a full bathroom with toilet and an additional toilet with vanity. It was so great because you could always go to the toilet when people were using the shower.

The family cabins with bunk beds look awesome! I want to sleep in one. Each has a TV at the end of the bed. I would be in heaven in one of these.

The panoramic balcony’s make it feel like you can touch the sea, and the ability to get fresh airflow into the room essentially by opening a window (or pressing a button and having it slide down). I do hope there is a partition between that window (balcony) and the rest of the room so you can sit out and enjoy the breeze while the other party takes a nap, but I know all those details will be revealed.

Thanks to Royal Caribbean’s media centre for the footage and images they’ve released thus far.

The Royal Loft on Icon of the Seas is something else. I mean who doesn’t want a grand piano in their cruise ship cabin? At 1482 sq ft, I think you have room for it. Not to mention the 705sq ft balcony you have just in case things are a little tight inside.

For relaxation, just head out to your balcony and sit in your own private whirlpool. You also have a bar and sink. This is definitely giving me Mega Rockstar Suite Vibes like Virgin Voyages. If I had that cabin, I don’t think I’d ever.

Here is a video I have created showing you what cabin categories are on board (there are 28 new ones) and what the proposed offering is. Some of it will just blow your mind, including 3 story lofts and family suites complete with a slide from one floor to the next.

I think cabin selection is really important on Icon of the Seas. Especially if you don’t have children (like us) because a guarantee cabin could see you directly above the family pool. So if you had a balcony, you really wouldn’t have a lot of peace and quiet (check out the deck plan). I’d be hesitant in accepting an automatic upgrade also, as it could put you in the same position.
